2001 Chevrolet Chevy Express G3500, Van Passenger Extended, 6.5 FSECTION Installation Procedure

  1. Install the radio mounting bracket. Perform the following steps:
    1. Attach the HVAC harness to the radio mounting bracket with the clip.
      CAUTION: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
    2. Install the screws (2) in order to retain the radio mounting bracket (1) to the instrument panel carrier.

      Tighten 

      Tighten the radio mounting bracket screws to 3 N.m (27 in lbs).

  2. Connect the electrical/audio and antenna cable connectors to the radio.
  3. Install the radio into the support bracket (1).
  4. Align the radio locator tab into the support bracket locator hole.
  5. Install the radio control retaining screws (2).

    Tighten 

    Tighten the radio control retaining screws to 2 N.m (18 in lbs).

  6. Install the instrument cluster panel. Refer to TRIM PLATE BEZEL REPLACEMENT - INSTRUMENT PANEL (I/P) CLUSTER .
  7. Recalibrate the new radio assembly. Refer to Radio Setup .
