Shift Cable (Column Shift): Installation

  1. Install the shift cable through the cowl panel and seat the grommet. See Figure . Slide the transaxle range selector cable (2) fully into the bracket until it snaps into place. See Figure .
  2. Connect the transaxle range selector cable terminal to the shift lever pin. See Figure . Install the retainer to the transaxle range selector cable mechanism.
  3. Install the left closeout/insulator panel. See appropriate SHIFT INTERLOCK SYSTEMS article. Insert the transaxle range selector cable into the bracket. Connect the transaxle range selector cable terminal to the transaxle manual shift lever pin. See Figure .
  4. Install the retainer to the transaxle range selector cable mechanism. See Figure . Adjust the automatic transmission range selector cable. See SHIFT CABLEΒ  under ADJUSTMENTS.
