Supplemental Inflatable Restraint System Sensing & Diagnostic Module: Removal
2001 Chevrolet Chevy Express G2500, Van Passenger Extended, 5.0 MSECTION Removal

- Disable Supplemental Inflatable Restraint (SIR) system. See DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM in appropriate AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEMS article.
- Position seat forward and in full up position. Remove covers from front end of seat adjuster track by spreading two rear tabs and pulling forward. For manual seat, remove retaining screw from rear of seat adjuster track. Remove covers from track. For power seat, use a flat-bladed tool to lift retainer tab from rear of seat adjuster track. Remove covers from track.
- Remove seat belt nut from front seat track. Raise front seat head restraint to full up position. Press in release tab at side of head restraint retainer. Remove front seat head restraint from front seat.
- Remove bolts which secure seat adjuster to floor pan at rear of seat. Disengage seat hook attachments from floor pan. Tip seat back and disconnect power seat (if equipped), electrical seat heater (if equipped) and driver side air bag (if equipped) electrical connector. Remove front bucket seat.
- Remove passenger front carpet retainer and roll back carpet. Remove Connector Position Assurance (CPA) from inflatable restraint Sensing and Diagnostic Module (SDM) wiring harness connector. Disconnect SDM wiring harness connector from SDM. Remove SDM mounting fasteners. See Fig 1. Remove SDM from floor pan.
