Removal Procedure
2001 Chevrolet Chevy Express G2500, Van Passenger Extended, 5.0 MSECTION Removal Procedure

CAUTION:
Do not attempt to repair or alter the head impact energy-absorbing material glued to the headliner or to the garnish trims. If the material is damaged, replace the headliner and/or the garnish trim. Failure to do so could result in personal injury.
- Remove the sunshades. Refer to SUNSHADE REPLACEMENT in Roof.
- Remove the sunshade anchors. Refer to SUNSHADE ANCHOR REPLACEMENT in Roof.
- Disconnect the electric connector to the rear view mirror.
- Remove the overhead console, if equipped. Refer to CONSOLE REPLACEMENT - OVERHEAD (WITH STORAGE) or CONSOLE REPLACEMENT - OVERHEAD (W/OUT STORAGE) .
- Remove the power sunroof switch, if equipped. Refer to SUNROOF SWITCH REPLACEMENT in Roof.
- Remove the dome light, if equipped.
- Remove the assist handle. Refer to ASSIST HANDLE REPLACEMENT - FRONT and to ASSIST HANDLE REPLACEMENT - REAR .
- Remove the side rail lamp. Refer to ROOF SIDE RAIL LAMP REPLACEMENT (COUPE) or ROOF SIDE RAIL LAMP REPLACEMENT (SEDAN) in Roof.
- Remove the windshield pillar garnish molding. Refer to GARNISH MOLDING REPLACEMENT - WINDSHIELD PILLAR in Roof.
- Remove the rear quarter upper trim panels. Refer to TRIM PANEL REPLACEMENT - REAR QUARTER UPPER (SEDAN) .
- Pull down on the door opening weatherstrip seal on both the front and the rear doors.
- If sunroof, remove the finish lace from the sunroof opening. Refer to FINISHING LACE REPLACEMENT in Roof.
- Remove the rear push-in retainers (2) from the headliner using J 38778 .
- Disconnect the headliner electric harness at the right side of the rear window shelf.
- Rotate the right front seat back to a horizontal position.
- Remove the headliner from the vehicle through the right front door.
