Removal Procedure
Important:Β When servicing the transfer case fluid, use only hand tools when removing the fill or drain plugs.
- Raise the vehicle. Refer to JACKING AND LIFTING in General Information.
- Remove the transfer case from the vehicle. Refer to TRANSFER CASE SHIELD REPLACEMENTΒ

Important:Β If the drain or fill plugs are damaged and need to be replaced, use only replacement plugs that are made from aluminum.
- Remove the transfer case fill plug.
Important:Β When draining the transfer case oil, always use the proper container for draining.
- Remove the transfer case drain plug.

When to See a Mechanic
