Park/Neutral Position Switch: Installation
Verify that the shift shaft in the Neutral position. Adjust the PNP switch if the new switch has been rotated and the pin is broken or if using an old PNP switch. See PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH under ADJUSTMENTS. Align the flats of the shift shaft to the flats in the PNP switch. Install the PNP switch to the mounting boss. Install the PNP switch bolts. See Figure . Tighten the PNP switch mounting bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . Install the manual selector lever. Connect the PNP switch electrical connectors. Install the shift cable. Verify that the engine starts only in the Park position or the Neutral position once the PNP switch is installed. Readjust the PNP switch and/or inspect the shifter and the manual selector lever if the engine starts in any other position. Install the throttle body air inlet duct. Remove the blocks from the wheels. Release the parking brake.
