Ignition Coil: Removal

2001 Chevrolet Chevy Express G2500, Van Passenger Extended, 5.0 MSECTION Removal

  1. Turn ignition off. Remove engine cover. See ENGINE COVERΒ  under AIR INDUCTION SYSTEMS. Disconnect harness connectors from ignition coil. Slightly twist ignition coil wire at ignition coil. See Fig 1 . Remove ignition coil wire at ignition coil by pulling on the wire boot.
  2. Remove ignition coil mounting studs. See Fig 2 . Remove ignition coil assembly. Drill and punch out the 2 rivets holding the ignition coil to the bracket. See Fig 3 . Remove ignition coil from bracket.
