Test K: Abs Indicator Inoperative: Testing
2001 Chevrolet Chevy Express G2500, Van Passenger Extended, 5.0 MSECTION Testing
- If ABS diagnostic system check has been performed, go to next step. If ABS diagnostic system check has not been performed, go to ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK in SELF DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position for 5 seconds. Turn ignition switch to RUN position while observing ABS indicator. If ABS indicator does not illuminate, go to next step. If ABS indicator illuminates, go to DIAGNOSTIC AIDS .
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect EBCM Natural 10-pin harness connector. Connect a fused jumper wire between ground and EBCM harness connector terminal "B" (Light Green wire). Turn ignition switch to RUN position. If ABS indicator does not illuminate, go to next step. If ABS indicator illuminates, go to step 7 .
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Reconnect EBCM connector. Disconnect IPC Black 34-pin harness connector. Connect test light between IPC harness connector terminals A1 (Light Green wire) and B17 (Pink wire). Turn ignition switch to RUN position. If test light does not illuminate, go to next step. If test light illuminates, go to step 6 .
- Repair open in Light Green wire between EBCM and IPC. After repair, go to step 11 .
- Check ABS indicator bulb for an open filament. If bulb is okay, go to step 8 . If bulb is not okay, replace bulb. After repair, go to step 11 .
- Check EBCM connector for intermittent or poor terminal contact. If terminal contact is okay, go to step 10 . If terminal contact is not okay, repair as necessary. After repair, go to step 11 .
- Check IPC connector for intermittent or poor terminal contact. If terminal contact is okay, go to next step. If terminal contact is not okay, repair as necessary. After repair, go to step 11 .
- Replace IPC. After repair, go to step 11
- Replace EBCM. Perform tire size calibration procedure. See PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH under ADJUSTMENTS. After repair, go to next step.
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position for 5 seconds. Turn ignition switch to RUN position while observing ABS indicator. If ABS indicator illuminates for 2 seconds, then turns off, system is okay at this time. If ABS indicator does not illuminate or illuminates and remains on, go to step 3 .
