Removal & Installation (6.5L Diesel)

2001 Chevrolet Chevy Express G2500, Van Passenger Extended, 5.0 MSECTION Removal & Installation (6.5L Diesel)
  1. Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove instrument panel lower extension upper trim panel by pulling out in order to disengage retainers. Remove nuts/bolts from instrument panel lower extension. Disconnect electrical connectors as necessary. Remove instrument panel lower extension from vehicle.
  2. On models equipped with bucket seats, except luxury, disconnect electrical connector from front passenger seat adjuster (if equipped). Disconnect electrical connector from front passenger seat belt buckle. Remove 3 front passenger seat anchor nuts. Remove front passenger seat assembly from vehicle. On models equipped with bucket luxury Y91 seats, remove seat riser retaining nuts. Disconnect electrical connector. Remove seat and riser from vehicle. On all models, release engine cover retaining straps. Remove engine cover.
  3. Remove starter motor-to-starter motor bracket retaining nut. Remove starter motor retaining bolts. Disconnect starter solenoid wiring. Remove starter motor bracket-to-engine retaining bolt. Remove shims and note arrangement for reassembly (if equipped). Remove starter assembly. To install, reverse removal procedure. Ensure shims are installed in original location (if equipped).
