NOTE:
Use this check as starting point for any power sun roof system complaint.
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). Turn ignition switch to RUN position. If scan tool powers up, go to next step. If scan tool does not power up, go to TEST D: SCAN TOOL DOES NOT POWER UPΒ under SYSTEM TESTS.
- Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Using scan tool, attempt to communicate with Body Control Module (BCM). If communication with BCM is possible, go to next step. If communication with BCM is not possible, go to TEST C: SCAN TOOL DOES NOT COMMUNICATE WITH CLASS 2 DEVICEΒ under SYSTEM TESTS.
- Select BCM display DTCs function. Scan tool should display NO DTCS FOUND. If any DTCs are listed, go to next step. If scan tool does not display any DTCs, perform appropriate symptom test. See SYSTEM TESTS in appropriate POWER SUN ROOFS article.
- Using scan tool, retrieve DTCs. If DTCs U1000-U1305 are not present, go to next step. If DTCs U1000-U1305 are present, go to DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE DEFINITIONSΒ . Repair as necessary.
- Check for DTC B1000. If scan tool displays DTC B1000, go to DTC B1000: CONTROL MODULE MALFUNCTIONΒ under DIAGNOSTIC TESTS. If scan tool does not display DTC B1000, go to next step.
- Check for DTC B1477 or B1478. If scan tool displays DTC B1477 or B1478, go to DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE DEFINITIONSΒ . Repair as necessary. If scan tool does not display DTC B1477 or B1478, go to next step.
- Check for DTC B1507 or B1508. If scan tool displays DTC B1507 or B1508, perform appropriate test. See appropriate GENERATORS & REGULATORS article. If scan tool does not display any DTCs, perform appropriate symptom test. See SYSTEM TESTS in appropriate POWER SUN ROOFS article.
