NOTE:
Use this check as starting point for any power seats system complaint.
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). Turn ignition switch to RUN position. If scan tool powers up, go to next step. If scan tool does not power up, go to TEST D: SCAN TOOL DOES NOT POWER UPΒ under SYSTEM TESTS.
- Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Using scan tool, attempt to establish communications with Body Control Module (BCM) and Powertrain Control Module (PCM). If communication is established, go to next step. If communication cannot be established, go to TEST C: SCAN TOOL DOES NOT COMMUNICATE WITH CLASS 2 DEVICEΒ under SYSTEM TESTS.
- Select scan tool display DTCs function for BCM. If scan tool displays any DTCs, go to next step. If scan tool does not display any DTCs, perform appropriate symptom. See SYSTEM TESTS in appropriate POWER SEATS article.
- Using scan tool, retrieve DTCs. If DTCs U1000-U1305 are not present, go to next step. If DTCs U1000-U1305 are present, go to DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE DEFINITIONSΒ . Repair as necessary.
- Check for DTC B1000 or B1339. If scan tool displays DTC B1000 or B1339, go to DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE DEFINITIONSΒ . Repair as necessary. If scan tool does not display DTC B1000 or B1339, go to next step.
- Check for DTC B0506. If scan tool displays DTC B0506, go to DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE DEFINITIONSΒ . Repair as necessary. If scan tool does not display DTC B0506, perform appropriate symptom test. See SYSTEM TESTS in appropriate POWER SEATS article.
