2001 Chevrolet Chevy Express G2500, Van Cargo Extended, 5.7 R, L31/KL8SECTION Installation Procedure

  1. Connect the mode actuator pushrod to the mode door lever.

  2. Install the air distribution case cover to the HVAC module.
    NOTE: Refer to FASTENER NOTICE .
  3. Install the air distribution case cover screws.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the screws to 1.6 N.m (14 lb in).

  4. Position the pod of the mode actuator between the steering column bracket and the ignition switch housing bracket.
  5. Inspect that the actuator pushrod is not binding on the mode door lever.
  6. Push the actuator toward the HVAC module case to secure the retaining tab.

  7. Connect the vacuum harness connectors to the mode actuator.

  8. Position the ignition switch to the ignition switch housing bracket.
  9. Install the ignition switch retaining bolts.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the bolts to 5.5 N.m (49 lb in).

  10. Install the hazard warning switch wiring harness to the ignition switch retainer.

  11. Install the ignition switch bezel to the switch.
    1. Wrap the ignition switch lock cylinder wire around the base of the ignition switch bezel, as noted during removal.
    2. Align the bezel slots to the lock cylinder pins, then push to secure.
  12. Connect the lock cylinder electrical connector.

  13. Connect the lock cylinder electrical connector to the retaining tab on the side of the ignition switch.

  14. Install the driver knee bolster bracket. Refer to BRACKET REPLACEMENT - KNEE BOLSTER (DRIVER) or BRACKET REPLACEMENT - KNEE BOLSTER (DRIVER OUTER) or BRACKET REPLACEMENT - KNEE BOLSTER (PASSENGER) in Instrument Panel, Gages and Console.
  15. Install the IPC into position.

  17. Install the IPC to steering column bracket retaining screws.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the screws to 3.5 N.m (31 lb in).

  18. Install the I/P upper trim pad. Refer to TRIM PAD REPLACEMENT - INSTRUMENT PANEL (I/P) UPPER in Instrument Panel, Gages and Console.
