Installation Procedure

2001 Chevrolet Chevy Express G2500, Van Cargo Extended, 5.7 R, L31/KL8SECTION Installation Procedure

  1. Install the coil spring.

  3. Install the spring jounce bumper to the spring.
  4. Index and install the spring insulator to the spring (2).
  5. Index and install the spring assembly to the control arms (1).

  7. Use the utility stand in order to raise the lower control arm.

  9. Install the lower ball joint to the knuckle.
  10. NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.
  11. Install the lower ball joint nut.

    Tighten:Β  Tighten the lower ball joint nut to 60 N.m (44 lb ft).

  12. Install the stabilizer shaft link to the lower control arm. Refer to Stabilizer Shaft Link Replacement (All Wheel Drive)Β .

  14. Install the speed sensor connector mounting bracket.
  15. Connect the speed sensor harness to the control arm.
  16. Connect the speed sensor harnesses.
  17. Connect the shock absorber to the lower control arm. Refer to Shock Absorber Replacement (Front Wheel Drive)Β  or Shock Absorber Replacement (All Wheel Drive)Β .
  18. Connect the height sensor link to the lower control arm as necessary.
  19. Install the brake caliper. Refer to Brake Caliper Replacement - Rear in Disc Brakes.
  20. Install the rear wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
  21. Inspect and adjust the rear camber and toe angles as necessary. Refer to Rear Camber Adjustment (AWD) in Wheel Alignment.
  22. Lower the vehicle.
