2001 Chevrolet Chevy Express G2500, Van Cargo Extended, 5.7 R, L31/KL8SECTION Removal Procedure

  1. Turn the ignition OFF.
  2. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  3. IMPORTANT: The catalytic converter does not have to be removed from the vehicle, relocate to the side.
  4. Remove the catalytic converter. Refer to Catalytic Converter Replacement in Engine Exhaust.
  5. Disconnect the intermediate steering shaft from the steering gear. Refer to Intermediate Steering Shaft Replacement in Steering Wheel and Column.

  7. Position a utility stand beneath the rear center section of the frame in order to support the powertrain.
  8. Remove the frame rear bolts.
  9. IMPORTANT: Do not lower the powertrain more than 100 mm (4 in).
  10. Carefully lower the powertrain in order to provide access.
