2001 Chevrolet Chevy Express G2500, Van Cargo Extended, 5.7 R, L31/KL8SECTION Installation Procedure

  1. Install the multifunction switch (2) to the steering column tilt head. Verify that the electrical contact of the turn signal switch rests on the horn ring.
  2. Install the multifunction switch screws (1).

    TightenΒ  Tighten the screws to 7 N.m (62 Ib. in).

  3. Install 2 electrical connectors (2) of the multifunction switch into the bulkhead connector.

  4. Connect the multifunction switch connector to the SIR coil connector.
  5. Attach the wire harness (1) to the steering column with new wire harness straps.
  6. Install the wire harness (1) to the wire harness strap.
  7. Install the SIR coil to the steering column shaft.
  8. Install the upper and lower trim covers. Refer to STEERING COLUMN TRIM COVERS REPLACEMENTΒ  .
  9. Enable the SIR. Refer to DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM .
