2001 Chevrolet Chevy Express G2500, Van Cargo Extended, 5.7 R, L31/KL8SECTION Removal Procedure

  1. Disable the SIR System. Refer to DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM .
  2. Remove the steering column trim covers. Refer to STEERING COLUMN TRIM COVERS REPLACEMENTΒ  .
  3. Remove the automatic transaxle selector cable retainer (3) and cable (2)from the steering column control lever (1).

  4. Remove the shift lever. Refer to SHIFT LEVER REPLACEMENTΒ  .
  5. Remove the retaining screws (1) from the linear shift assembly.

  6. Twist the linear shift park lock cable to remove the cable (2) from the lock housing (1).

  7. Remove the electrical connector (3).

  8. Remove the liner shift assembly.
