Preliminary Inspection

2001 Chevrolet Chevy Express G2500, Van Cargo Extended, 5.7 R, L31/KL8SECTION Preliminary Inspection
  1. On Astro and Safari, check condition of WINDOWS circuit breaker (30-amp for 1999-2000; 25-amp for 2001) located in instrument panel fuse block. If circuit breaker is open, locate and repair cause of overload. Replace if damaged.
  2. On Chevy Express and Savana, check PWR WDO (25-amp) fuse located in instrument panel fuse block. If fuse is blown, locate and repair source of overload. Replace fuse.
  3. On all models, check for mechanical failures or binding linkage. If express down feature does not work but window moves down with each switch depression, replace master window switch assembly.
  4. Check for broken or partially broken wire inside insulation, which could cause system malfunction but prove good in a continuity/voltage check with system disconnected. These circuits may be intermittent or resistive when loaded.
  5. Check by monitoring voltage drop with system under load. Check for proper installation of aftermarket electronic equipment. If problem still exists, identify symptom and perform appropriate test. See SYMPTOM INDEXΒ  table under SYSTEM TESTS.
