- After reviewing rear window defogger description and operation and performing preliminary inspection, go to next step. See DESCRIPTION & OPERATIONΒ and PRELIMINARY INSPECTIONΒ under TROUBLE SHOOTING.
- Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Press rear window defogger switch. Observe rear window defogger indicator on Heating Ventilation Air Conditioning (HVAC) control assembly. If indicator remains illuminated, go to next step. If indicator does not remain illuminated, concern may be intermittent. For aid in diagnosing intermittents, see PRELIMINARY INSPECTIONΒ under TROUBLE SHOOTING.
- Check for short to voltage in rear window defogger relay coil supply voltage circuit, Orange wire between HVAC harness connector C2 terminal "D" and rear window defogger relay harness connector terminal A1. See Fig 1 and Fig 2 . If no problem exists, go to next step. If problem exists, repair as necessary and go to step Β 6 .
- Check for poor, loose or corroded terminals in HVAC harness connector C2. If no problem exists, go to next step. If problem exists, repair as necessary and go to step Β 6 .
- Replace HVAC control assembly. See HEATING VENTILATION AIR CONDITIONING CONTROL ASSEMBLYΒ under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After repairs are made, go to next step.
- Perform rear window defogger system check to verify repair. See REAR WINDOW DEFOGGER SYSTEM CHECKΒ under TROUBLE SHOOTING. If system operates normally, testing is complete. If system does not operate normally, go to step Β 2 .
