Installation Procedure

2001 Chevrolet Cavalier LS, 2.4 TSECTION Installation Procedure

  1. If removed install a new engine front cover gasket.
  2. Install the front engine mount. Refer to Engine Mount Replacement .
  3. Install the engine front cover.
  4. Install the engine front cover bolts. See Figure.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the engine front cover bolts to 25 N.m (18 lb ft).

  5. Install the water pump bolt. See Figure.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the water pump bolt to 20 N.m (15 lb ft).

  6. Install the drive belt tensioner. See Drive Belt Tensioner Replacement .
  7. Install the drive belt tensioner bolt.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the drive belt tensioner bolt to 45 N.m (33 lb ft).

  8. Install the crankcase balancer. Refer to Crankshaft Balancer Replacement .
