Fuel Sender (Without Feedback Fuel System): Installation

2001 Chevrolet Cavalier LS, 2.4 TSECTION Installation

  1. Inspect the fuel sender gasket for damage and replace if necessary. Insert the float arm through the fuel tank opening. Do not bend or twist the float arm. The fuel sender may need to be rotated in order to facilitate the installation.
  2. Align the fuel sender gasket tab with the fuel sender cover mark. See Fig 1. Align the fuel sender cover mark with the fuel tank mark. Hand tighten the fuel sender attaching bolts until finger tight.
  3. Tighten the fuel sender assembly attaching bolts to specification in the proper sequence. See Fig 1. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONSΒ .
  4. Reconnect the fuel pipes to the fuel sender assembly. Connect the fuel sender electrical connector. Install the fuel tank strap. Install the fuel tank strap bolts to specification. Install the fuel tank shield. Install the fuel tank shield mount bolt/nut and tighten to specification.
  5. Install the rear wheel and tire assembly. Tighten wheel lug nuts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONSΒ . Lower the vehicle. Refill the fuel system. Install the fuel filler cap. Connect the negative battery cable. Perform the following procedure in order to inspect for leaks. Turn the ignition on for 2 seconds. Turn the ignition off 10 seconds. Turn the ignition on. Inspect for fuel leaks.
  6. Check if keyless entry transmitters function properly. If battery was disconnected, transmitter may not communicate or may loose synchronization with the receiver. If transmitters do not function properly, reprogram transmitters. See KEYLESS ENTRY TRANSMITTER SYNCHRONIZATIONΒ  under PROGRAMMING.
