Installation Procedure

2001 Chevrolet Cavalier LS, 2.4 TSECTION Installation Procedure

  1. Install the recliner to the seat.
    NOTE: Refer to FASTENER NOTICE in Cautions and Notices.
  2. Install the recliner bolts (1, 2)

    Tighten 

    Tighten the bolts to 20 N.m (15 lb ft).

  3. Install the seat back pad and cover to a desired appearance.
  4. Fasten the J-hook retainer located next to the SIAB module, if equipped.
  5. Fasten the J-hook retainer located at the bottom of the seat back cover.
  6. Install the outer trim panel on the seat cushion. Refer to SEAT CUSHION OUTER TRIM PANEL REPLACEMENT  .
  7. Install the bucket seat. Refer to SEAT REPLACEMENT  .
  8. Reposition the seat back to the original position.
  9. Check the seat back recliner for proper operation.
  10. Enable the SIR system, if equipped with SIAB. Refer to DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM or to DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM in SIR.
