Radio Setup
For the DE 100 and 153 series radio, complete the following procedure, using a scan tool, in order to properly set up communication:
- At the Main Menu screen, select: Diagnostics.
- At the Vehicle Identification screen, select the following options:
- Model Year
- Passenger Car
- At the System Selection Menu screen, select: Body.
- At the Vehicle Identification screen, select the Platform type.
- At the Body screen, select: Radio.
- At the Radio screen, select: Special Functions.
- At the Special Functions screen, select: Radio Setup.
- Verify that the scan tool displays "The following test will set up a new or an existing radio. Press [ENTER] to Continue..." and press ENTER on the scan tool.
- Select one of the following Regular Production Options (RPO) using the arrow keys and press ENTER.
- UM6-Pontiac Only
- UM7
- U1C
- UNO
- UPO
- U1P and UW6
- U1Q and UW6
- U1P and U85
- U1Q and U85
- Select one of the following options:
- USA/Canada
- Export
- Verify that the scan tool displays "Is vehicle equipped with U2L (L Band)? Press [YES] or [NO]" and make appropriate selection.
- Verify that the scan tool displays "Test in Progress."
- Verify that the scan tool displays "Test Completed Successfully."
- Press EXIT on the scan tool.IMPORTANT: The radio set up will configure the following systems:
- LEARN VIN
- Diagnostic Trouble Codes
- Class 2 Radio Messages
- Country Code
- Chime Volume
- Chime Level
- 12/24 Hour Clock
Without learning the VIN, the radio will display a locked message (LOC).
The radio setup procedure will also clear the following messages:
- CAL
- CAL ERR
- CALIBRATE
- Cycle the ignition. Set up is complete.

When to See a Mechanic
Stop DIY work and contact a certified mechanic immediately if any of the following apply:

- β’ Brakes feel soft, pull hard to one side, or make grinding noises.
- β’ The engine overheats, stalls repeatedly, or misfires under load.
- β’ You are missing required tools, torque specs, or safe lifting equipment.
