2001 Chevrolet Cavalier LS, 2.4 TSECTION Installation

  1. Install the front floor console, sliding forward and downward, guiding the boot over the park brake lever. Position and engage the front retainers by pressing inward, until the retainers are fully seated.
  2. Install the rear bolts to the console storage compartment. See Figure . Tighten the bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONSΒ  . Install the retainers to the sides of the console.
  3. Install the front screws to the console. Tighten the screws to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONSΒ  . Install the screw covers at the front of the console.
  4. Press the covers into place until fully seated. Install the trim plate to the transaxle shift opening. Install the shifter boot. Install the mats to the instrument panel center compartment and to the front floor console rear compartment.
  5. Release the parking brake lever to the full down position. Move the front seats to the original position.


  1. Install the front floor console by guiding the shift boot over the shift knob and the emergency brake handle. See Figure .
  2. Install the bolts to the front floor console. See Figure . Tighten the bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONSΒ  . Lower the armrest.
  3. Install the optional center storage pocket. See Figure . Press into place until fully seated. Install the optional power window switch plate. Install the front screw cover. See Figure . Press into place until fully seated. Attach the snaps on the shift boot.


  1. Install the front floor console, sliding forward and downward, guiding the boot over the parking brake lever. Position and engage the front retainers by pressing inward, until the retainers are fully seated.
  2. Install the front nuts to the console bracket. See Figure . Tighten the nuts to specification. Install the center bolts to the sides of the console. Tighten the bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONSΒ  .
  3. Install the front screws to the console. Tighten the screws to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONSΒ  . Install the screw covers at the front of the console. Press the covers into place until fully seated.
  4. Install the rear bolts to the console storage compartment. Tighten the bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONSΒ  . Install the instrument panel accessory trim plate. Install the console trim plate.
  5. Release the park brake lever to the full down position. Install the rubber mat to the storage compartment, and lower the front floor console armrest. Install the shift lever knob and install the shift knob retainer. Reposition the front seats to the original position.
