Installation Procedure

2001 Chevrolet Cavalier LS, 2.4 TSECTION Installation Procedure

  1. Install the power steering pump (1) to the engine.
    NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.
  2. Install the power steering pump mounting bolts (2).

    Tighten:Β  Tighten the power steering pump bolts (2) to 26 N.m (19 lb ft).

  3. Install the power steering hoses to the power steering pump (1). Refer to the following procedures:
  4. If applicable, install the EVAP canister purge valve. Refer to Evaporative Emission (EVAP) Canister Purge Solenoid Valve Replacement in Engine Controls 2.2L (L61).
  5. Install the upper air cleaner and duct. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement in Engine Controls-2.2L (L61).
  6. Fill the power steering pump with power steering fluid. Refer to Checking and Adding Power Steering FluidΒ .
  7. Bleed the air from the power steering system. Refer to Bleeding the Power Steering SystemΒ .
