Installation Procedure

2001 Chevrolet Cavalier LS, 2.4 TSECTION Installation Procedure

IMPORTANT: Verify that the sliding mechanisms for the seat left adjuster (3), and the right adjuster (5), are in the same position when installed.
  1. Install the adjuster (3,5) to the seat bottom frame.
    NOTE: Refer to FASTENER NOTICE in Cautions and Notices.
  2. Install the bolts (2) to the seat adjuster (3,5).

    Tighten:Β  Tighten the bolts to 20 N.m (15 lb ft).

  3. Perform the following if equipped:
    1. Install seat adjuster lateral wire (3) to the adjusters.
    2. Install the seat adjuster tie bar (2) to the adjusters.
    3. Install the bolts (1) to the seat adjuster tie bar (2).

      Tighten:Β  Tighten bolts to 10 N.m (89 lb in).

  4. Install the hooked end of the seat adjuster locking wire to the adjuster lock bar.

  6. Squeeze the hooked end of the seat adjuster locking wire together.

  7. Slide the retaining spring over the hooked end of the seat adjuster locking wire.
  8. Install the adjuster return spring (1) to the seat adjuster (3).

  9. Install the front bucket seat. Refer to Seat ReplacementΒ .
  10. Install the EZ entry adjuster cable to the seat adjuster. Refer to Seat Replacement - Passenger Front EZ EntryΒ .
  11. Enable the SIR system, if equipped with side impact inflatable restraints. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling Zone 7 or SIR Disabling and Enabling Zone 9 in SIR.
