Enabling Procedure

2001 Chevrolet Cavalier LS, 2.4 TSECTION Enabling Procedure

  1. Remove the key from the ignition switch.
  2. Connect the SIS-RH connector (4).
  3. Install the CPA (3) to the SIS-RH connector (4).

  4. Install the SIS-RH (1) to the RH door (4). Refer to Inflatable Restraint Side Impact Sensor Replacement (Sedan)  or Inflatable Restraint Side Impact Sensor Replacement (Coupe) .

  5. Install the RH door trim panel (2). Refer to Trim Panel Replacement - Side Front Door (Pontiac) or Trim Panel Replacement - Side Front Door (Chevrolet) in Doors.

  6. Install the AIR BAG fuse to the LH I/P wiring harness junction block.

  7. Install the LH I/P outer trim cover. Refer to Instrument Panel (I/P) Outer Trim Cover Replacement (Chevrolet) or Instrument Panel (I/P) Outer Trim Cover Replacement (Pontiac) in Instrument Panel, Gages, and Console.
  8. Staying well away from both air bags, turn ON the ignition.
    1. The AIR BAG indicator will flash 7 times.
    2. The AIR BAG indicator will then turn OFF.
  9. Perform Diagnostic System Check - SIR  if the AIR BAG indicator does not operate as described.
