Disabling Procedure
2001 Chevrolet Cavalier LS, 2.4 TSECTION Disabling Procedure

- Turn the steering wheel so that the vehicle's wheels are pointing straight ahead.
- Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
- Remove the key from the ignition switch.
- Remove the LH I/P outer trim cover. Refer to Instrument Panel (I/P) Outer Trim Cover Replacement (Chevrolet)
or Instrument Panel (I/P) Outer Trim Cover Replacement (Pontiac)
in Instrument Panel, Gages, and Console.IMPORTANT: With the AIR BAG fuse removed and the ignition switch in the RUN position, the AIR BAG warning lamp illuminates. This is a normal operation and does not indicate an SIR system malfunction.
- Remove the AIR BAG fuse from the LH I/P wiring harness junction block.
- Remove the LH door trim panel (2). Refer to Trim Panel Replacement - Side Front Door (Pontiac) or Trim Panel Replacement - Side Front Door (Chevrolet) in Doors.
- Remove the inflatable restraint side impact sensor (SIS)-LH (1) from the LH door (4). Refer to Inflatable Restraint Side Impact Sensor Replacement (Sedan)Β or Inflatable Restraint Side Impact Sensor Replacement (Coupe)Β .
- Remove the connector position assurance (CPA) (3) from the SIS-LH connector (4).
- Disconnect the SIS-LH connector (4).
