Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes

2001 Chevrolet Cavalier LS, 2.4 TSECTION Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes
NOTE: DTCs cannot be cleared by disconnecting EBCM, disconnecting negative battery cable, or by turning ignition off. DTCs can only be cleared by using a scan tool. DTCs will be erased when ignition is cycled 100 times without fault reappearing. The ignition cycle counter in EBCM will be reset to zero.
  1. Connect scan tool. Before clearing DTCs, check and note current DTC data. Select ABS/ETS function. Select DTC(S) function and then CLEAR CODES function.
  2. Verify DTCs are cleared. If other DTCs are displayed, either DTCs were not cleared or ABS/ETS fault still exists. Diagnose fault and repeat procedure.
