DTC B1382: Ignition Acc Circuit Low: Testing
2001 Chevrolet Cavalier LS, 2.4 TSECTION Testing
- If Body Control Module (BCM) diagnostic system check has been performed, go to next step. If BCM diagnostic system check has not been performed, go toBODY CONTROL SYSTEM DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
- Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). DLC is located at lower left side of instrument panel, near steering column. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Observe ACCESSORY input on Body Control Module (BCM) data list. If scan tool does not indicate ON, go to next step. If scan tool indicates ON, perform this step while wiggling related wiring and connectors. This can often cause malfunction to appear.
- Remove and check BCM fuse (10-amp) from instrument panel fuse block. See Figure . Instrument panel fuse block is located on left side of instrument panel. If fuse is blown, go to next step. If fuse is okay, go to step 6 .
- Connect test light between BCM fuse cavities. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. If test light illuminates, go to next step. If test light does not illuminate, perform this step while wiggling related wiring and connectors. This can often cause malfunction to appear. Repair as necessary.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect BCM 24-pin Light Blue harness connector C2. BCM is located behind left side of instrument panel. See Figure . Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Connect test light between BCM fuse cavities. If test light illuminates, go to step 8 . If test light does not illuminate, go to step 10 .
- Turn ignition switch to RUN position. With test light connected to ground, probe both BCM fuse cavities. If test light illuminates at one cavity, go to next step. If test light does not illuminate at one cavity, go to step 9 .
- Check for continuity in Yellow wire between BCM fuse cavity and BCM harness connector C2 terminal A3. See Figure . If continuity exists, go to step 11 . If continuity does not exist, repair open in Yellow wire. After repairs, go to step 12 .
- Repair short to ground in Yellow wire between BCM fuse and BCM harness connector C2 terminal A3. See POWER DISTRIBUTION article in WIRING DIAGRAMS. For 2002, see POWER DISTRIBUTION article in WIRING DIAGRAMS. After repairs, go to step 12 .
- Repair open in Brown wire between BCM fuse and ignition switch harness connector C1 terminal "A". See POWER DISTRIBUTION article in WIRING DIAGRAMS. For 2002, see POWER DISTRIBUTION article in WIRING DIAGRAMS. After repairs, go to step 12 .
- Check for poor connections at BCM harness connector C2. If problem is not found, go to next step. If problem is found, repair as necessary. After repairs, go to step 12 .
- Replace BCM. See BODY CONTROL MODULE under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Program BCM. See BODY CONTROL MODULE PROGRAMMING/REGULAR PRODUCTION OPTION CONFIGURATION under PROGRAMMING. After repairs, go to step 12 .
- Using scan tool, clear DTCs. Turn ignition switch to OFF position, then start engine. Wait at least 30 seconds, and retrieve DTCs. If DTC B1382 exists, go to step 2 . If DTC B1382 does not exist, system is okay at this time.
