- Perform diagnostic system check. See DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK under DIAGNOSIS & TESTING. After performing diagnostic system check, go to next step.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect EBCM 10-pin harness connector. Using a fused jumper wire, connect jumper between chassis ground and EBCM harness connector terminal "B". See WIRING DIAGRAMS . Turn ignition on. If ABS indicator light turns on, go to step 9 . If ABS indicator light does not turn on, go to next step.
- Check fuse in jumper wire. If fuse is open, go to step 11 . If fuse is okay, go to next step.
- Check GAUGES fuse located in instrument panel fuse block. If fuse is open, go to next step. If fuse is okay, go to step 6 .
- Turn ignition off. Replace GAUGES fuse. Disconnect instrument cluster harness connector. Turn ignition on to RUN position. Remove and inspect GAUGES fuse. If fuse is open, go to step 15 . If fuse is okay, go to next step.
- Remove and inspect ABS indicator light bulb. If bulb is open, go to step 12 . If bulb is okay, go to next step.
- Turn ignition off. Using a DVOM, check resistance between EBCM 10-pin harness connector terminal "B" (Light Green wire) and instrument cluster harness connector terminal A1 (Light Green wire). If resistance is 0-2 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is not 0-2 ohms, go to step 13 .
- Turn ignition on. Check voltage between ground and instrument cluster harness connector terminal B17 (Pink wire). If voltage reading is 10 volts or greater, diagnose instrument cluster. See appropriate INSTRUMENT PANELS article in ACCESSORIES & EQUIPMENT. If voltage reading is not 10 volts or greater, go to step 14 .
- Check 10-pin EBCM harness connector for poor terminal contact, corrosion or open circuit. Repair as necessary. Reconnect all harness connectors. Test drive vehicle at speeds greater than 10 MPH. Observe ABS indicator light. If ABS indicator light is not off constantly, go to next step. If ABS indicator light is off constantly, check for open circuit between instrument cluster and EBCM, open GAUGES fuse or open between fuse block and instrument cluster. Repair as necessary.
- Replace EBCM. After replacing EBCM, go to DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK under DIAGNOSIS & TESTING.
- Repair short to voltage in circuit between instrument cluster and EBCM. After repairs, go to DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK under DIAGNOSIS & TESTING.
- Replace ABS indicator light bulb. After replacing light bulb, go to DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK under DIAGNOSIS & TESTING.
- Repair open or high resistance in circuit between instrument cluster and EBCM. After repairs, go to DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK under DIAGNOSIS & TESTING.
- Repair open in circuit between instrument panel cluster and fuse block. After repairs, go to DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK under DIAGNOSIS & TESTING.
- Repair short to ground in circuit between instrument panel cluster and fuse block. After repairs, go to DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK under DIAGNOSIS & TESTING.
