- Turn system off. Disconnect negative battery cable. Ensure repair area is dry and free of contaminates. Wipe area clean with alcohol. Be sure to clean 1/4" (6 mm) beyond each side of break. With glass at room temperature of 70-90°F (20-32°C), position masking tape along both sides of grid line at damaged area. See Fig 1 .
- Apply grid repair material to grid at all areas of repair and remove masking tape. Use a heat gun capable of reaching 500°F (260°C) to cure repair material. Protect interior trim from heat damage. Hold heat gun 1" (25 mm) from repair area for 1-2 minutes.
- Ensure repair area reaches a minimum of 300°F (149°C). Test defogger operation to verify repair. If repair area appears discolored, apply a coating of tincture of iodine. Allow iodine to dry for 30 seconds and carefully wipe off excess using lint-free cloth.
