- Before proceeding, follow air bag service precautions. See SERVICE PRECAUTIONSΒ . Turn front wheels to straight-ahead position. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position and remove key. Wait at least one minute for capacitors in SDM to discharge before working on system.
- Remove upper and lower steering column trim covers. Disconnect the driver air bag module wiring harness connector from steering wheel SIR coil connector.
- Remove 4 screws and trim cover from passenger air bag module on right side of instrument panel. For passenger air bag, remove CPA clip and disconnect 2-pin Yellow SIR connector. See Fig 1.
- Remove the driver's outer seat track trim cover. Disconnect the driver seat belt pretensioner 2-pin connector from vehicle harness. Remove CPA clip from driver side air bag 2-pin Yellow SIR connector, if equipped. Disconnect Yellow SIR connector from vehicle harness. The connector is located under driver's seat. Repeat procedure for right-hand (passenger) seat belt pretensioner and 2-pin Yellow SIR connector, if equipped.
