Transmitter Programming

2000 Chevrolet Cavalier Base, 2D Coupe, Automatic, 4T40E/MN4SECTION Transmitter Programming

Tech 2 scan tool must be used to program RKE transmitters. Up to 4 transmitters can programmed to BCM at one time. All transmitters to be used must be programmed in same programming session. Leave a window down during reprogramming procedure. This will prevent unintentional lockout if reprogramming procedure is not performed properly.

  1. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Connect Tech 2 scan tool. Following on-screen procedure, enter BCM programming mode. BCM is ready to be programmed when, within 2 seconds:
    • Door locks will lock.
    • Door locks will unlock.
    • Rear compartment lid release will cycle.
    • Horn chirp will sound.
  2. Press and hold LOCK and UNLOCK buttons simultaneously until the following conditions occur in approximately 12 seconds:
    • Door locks will lock.
    • Door locks will unlock.
    • Rear compartment lid release releases
    • Horn chirp will sound.
    These conditions verify successful transmitter reprogramming.
  3. Repeat previous step for each RKE transmitter.
  4. Verify proper operation of each transmitter.
