Safety Warning
DIY auto repair can cause serious injury, fire, or vehicle damage. These guides are for informational purposes only. Always follow OEM torque specs, wear PPE, and consult a certified mechanic if you are unsure. You are solely responsible for your safety.
With RKE
Door lock system operates almost the same as without RKE. With RKE, door locks can be operated from either the switches on doors or RKE transmitter. RKE allows door lock relay to be operated remotely through Body Control Module (BCM) with RKE transmitter. Driver door unlock is controlled solely by BCM.
Added features with RKE are:
- Lockout Prevention
BCM will not lock doors if key is in ignition cylinder and driver door is open. BCM can override lockout prevention by holding LOCK button down for more than 3 seconds. - Driver Door Unlock
With RKE transmitter, first press of UNLOCK button unlocks driver door only. Pressing UNLOCK button again within 5 seconds will unlock remaining doors.
