Installation Procedure

1999 Chevrolet Pickup K1500, 5.7 RSECTION Installation Procedure

  1. Position the IP retainer to the carrier, feeding the wiring through the openings as removed.
    CAUTION: Refer to FASTENER NOTICE .
  2. Install the IP retainer fasteners in order to secure the IP retainer to the carrier.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the fasteners to 2 N.m (18 in lbs).

  3. Connect the left IP to body electrical harness connector.
  4. Connect the right IP to body electrical harness connector.
  5. Connect the center IP to body electrical harness connector.
  6. Install the IP storage compartment. Refer to Storage Compartment Replacement - IP  .

  7. Install the valet switch. Refer to Rear Compartment Lid Valet Lock Out Switch Replacement  .
  8. Install the IP cluster. Refer to Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) Replacement  .
  9. Install the steering column. Refer to STEERING COLUMN REPLACEMENT .
  10. Install the knee bolster brackets. Refer to Bracket Replacement - Knee Bolster  .
  11. Install the knee bolster. Refer to Knee Bolster Replacement  .
  12. Install the drivers information center. Refer to Driver Information Center Module Replacement  .
  13. Install the HVAC control module assembly. Refer to HVAC CONTROL MODULE .
  14. Install the radio. Refer to RADIO REPLACEMENT (W/O UM8) or RADIO REPLACEMENT (W UM8) .
  15. Install the center console. Refer to Console Replacement - Front Floor  .
  16. Install the IP upper trim pad. Refer to Trim Pad Replacement - IP Upper  .
  17. Install the IP outer trim covers. Refer to Instrument Panel (IP) Outer Trim Cover Replacement  .
  18. Install right insulator panel. Refer to Closeout/Insulator Panel Replacement - Right  .
  19. Install left insulator panel. Refer to Closeout/Insulator Panel Replacement - Left  .
  20. Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to BATTERY NEGATIVE CABLE DISCONNECT/CONNECT PROCEDURE .
  21. Enable the SIR system. Refer to ACTIVATING SYSTEM .
