PASSLOCK™ Seed & Key: Conditions
If a new vehicle/powertrain control module (VCM/PCM) is being installed for the first time the manufacturing enable bit will be set and the auto learn procedure may not be necessary.
The following procedure allows the relearning of the Passlock™ module or the VCM/PCM learned data code after the replacement of any of the following parts:
- Passlock™ module
- Passlock™ sensor
- VCM/PCM
The Passlock™ module will set the DTC B3031 module in the learn mode when entering the reprogramming procedure.

When to See a Mechanic
Stop DIY work and contact a certified mechanic immediately if any of the following apply:
- • You smell fuel, burning insulation, or see smoke.
- • Brakes feel soft, pull hard to one side, or make grinding noises.
- • The engine overheats, stalls repeatedly, or misfires under load.
- • You are missing required tools, torque specs, or safe lifting equipment.
- • You are not confident in the next step or safety outcome.
