1998 Chevrolet Tracker 4D Utility, RWDSECTION Idle-Up Circuit (4WD Only)

The EBCM uses the ECM to increase engine idle speed. When the transfer case is in four-wheel drive, the EBCM may command the ECM to increase the idle speed during an ABS event. This reduces engine-induced braking. Engine braking especially on icy road conditions, tends to reduce ABS performance. The EBCM logic determines when it is necessary to idle-up. However, the ECM will ignore any requests to idle-up until vehicle speed is greater than 12 MPH, to prevent a fast idle at all times if the idle up circuit has shorted to ground.
