CAUTION:
When a rear compartment lid hold open device is being removed or installed, provide alternate support to avoid the possibility of damage to the vehicle or personal injury.
- Prop open the rear compartment lid in the fully up position.
- Remove the front rear compartment trim panel. Refer to Compartment Trim Panel Replacement - RearΒ .
- Note the location of the torque rod in the adjustment bracket for reinstallation.
- Use the J 43300Β
(1) in order to disconnect the torque rod from the adjustment bracket.
- 4.1. Install the J 43300Β (1) over the end of the torque rod.
- 4.2. Use a ratchet extension (2) for extra leverage.
- 4.3. Pry rearward, releasing the torque rod from the adjuster bracket.
- 4.4. Carefully move the J 43300Β toward the front of the car releasing the pressure on the torque rod.
- Slide the opposite end of torque rod out of the rear compartment hinge.
- Remove the torque rod from the vehicle.
