Installation Procedure

1998 Chevrolet Suburban K2500, 7.4 J, Part TimeSECTION Installation Procedure

  1. Install the thermostat.

  2. Install the gasket and the water outlet housing.
  3. Install the water outlet housing bolts.

    Tighten: 

    Tighten the bolts to 27 N.m (20 ft lbs) 

  4. Install the radiator hose to the water outlet housing. Use the J 38185 to reposition and install the hose clamp to the water outlet housing.
  5. Install the air cleaner intake duct.
  6. Fill the cooling system. Refer to Draining and Filling Cooling System 
  7. Install the fuel injector sight shield. Refer to FUEL INJECTOR SIGHT SHIELD REPLACEMENT (L36) or FUEL INJECTOR SIGHT SHIELD REPLACEMENT (L67)
  8. Inspect for leaks.
