Programming BCM

1998 Chevrolet Camaro SS, 2D Coupe, StandardSECTION Programming BCM
CAUTION: When BCM is replaced, new BCM will automatically program to resistance of the ignition key or interrogator setting that is used the first time ignition switch is turned to ON position. This process can only be performed one time.

After a new BCM has been installed, insert one of the customer's keys into ignition lock cylinder, and turn it to ON position. Start engine to verify system operation. If SECURITY warning indicator illuminates for about 5 seconds and then goes out, BCM is programmed properly. If SECURITY warning indicator flashes (about one flash per second) until ignition switch is turned to OFF position, BCM did not program. Check for faulty system components and wiring.
