NOTE:
After repair or component replacement is completed, perform appropriate MEMORY SYSTEM CHECK under TROUBLE SHOOTINGΒ
to verify system is functioning properly.
- Perform POWER SEAT MEMORY SYSTEM CHECKΒ under TROUBLE SHOOTING. Go to next step.
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Ground memory seat diagnostic connector. Memory seat/mirror module will chime once to indicate Mode 1 has been entered. Operate driver's seat switch in all directions. Memory seat/mirror module should chime once at each switch input. If any switch input does not cause a chime to sound, go to next step. If all switch inputs cause a chime to sound, go to step 5).
- Remove ground from memory seat diagnostic connector. After 5 seconds, 3 chimes will sound to indicate that diagnostic mode has been exited. Disconnect left seat switch Gray, 12-pin connector. See Figure . With suspect switch pressed, use DVOM to check voltage between ground and appropriate left seat switch harness connector terminal. See WIRING DIAGRAMSΒ . If 10-15 volts exists, go to next step. If 10-15 volts does not exist, go to step 7).
- Check for open in appropriate wire between left seat switch and memory seat/mirror module. See WIRING DIAGRAMSΒ . If circuit is okay, go to next step. If circuit is not okay, go to step 11).
- Check for short to ground in appropriate wire between memory seat/mirror module and seat motor. See WIRING DIAGRAMSΒ . If circuit is okay, go to next step. If circuit is not okay, go to step 11).
- Replace suspect motor. See POWER SEATS article. Recheck system operation..
- For Riviera, go to step 10). For Aurora, go to next step.
- If inoperative function is recline function, go to next step. If inoperative function is not recline function, go to step 10).
- Check for open in Orange wire between left seat switch and splice S211. If circuit is okay, go to next step. If circuit is not okay, go tostep 11).
- Replace left seat switch. See POWER SWITCHESΒ under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Recheck system operation.
- Repair open or short to ground in appropriate wire. Recheck system operation.
