Intermittent Failures

1997 Chevrolet Chevy Express G3500, Van Cargo, 6.5 FSECTION Intermittent Failures
WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 8 other vehicles, including the 1995 GMC Vandura, 1995 GMC Rally, 1995 GMC Pickup, 1995 Chevrolet Sportvan, and 1995 Chevrolet Pickup. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

Intermittent failures may cause MIL to flicker or illuminate and go out about 10 seconds after the intermittent fault goes away. The corresponding trouble code, however, will be retained in control module memory. If related fault does not reoccur within 50 engine restarts, it will be erased from ECM memory. Intermittent failures may be caused by faulty sensor, connector or wiring. See INTERMITTENTS in the TESTS W/O CODES - GASOLINE article.
