Window Motor & Regulator

1996 Chevrolet Tahoe 2D Utility, 6.5 SSECTION Window Motor & Regulator
  1. Disconnect negative battery cable. Insert a flat-blade screwdriver between door inside bezel and handle assembly. Carefully bend retaining clips outward while pulling on bezel. If vehicle is equipped with power door locks, disconnect electrical connector.
  2. Remove trim panel upper extension from trim panel by pulling upward. Remove armrest plugs from trim panel. Remove armrest screws and armrest pad. Disconnect courtesy light electrical connector (if equipped).
  3. Insert Door Handle Clip Remover (J 9886-01) between door handle and bearing plate. Align door handle clip remover parallel with door handle and push to disengage spring clip. Pull door handle from door and remove bearing plate.
  4. Remove door trim panel by using Trim Pad Retainer Clip Remover (J 38778). Remove window switch. See WINDOW SWITCHΒ  . Disconnect electrical connectors. Remove water dam by pulling it back from door assembly. Disconnect door lock linkage.
  5. Lower window completely. Remove bolts holding door inner panel to door. Disconnect lock and handle rods from back of door inner panel. Tape lock and handle rods to door. Disconnect remaining electrical connectors and push wiring into door. Move window run channel away from glass. Tilt door inner panel and window glass assembly, and lift door inner panel and glass out of bottom of door.
  6. Slide window glass channel from regulator roller assembly and remove window glass. Remove regulator assembly rivets. Remove regulator and motor as an assembly. To install, reverse removal procedure.
