Description & Operation
Rear window defogger consists of control switch on dash panel, timer relay and heating element grid. Timer relay is a separate unit. For timer relay location, see TIMER RELAY LOCATIONΒ table. Grid is bonded to inside surface of rear window. Current enters grid on left side and is grounded on right side of cab. See Fig 1 .
Ignition switch must be in RUN position to operate system. If control switch is left on, timer relay allows current to flow to grid for 10 minutes, then stops current flow to grid. The first time control switch is activated, timer relay allows current flow to grid for 10 minutes.
Each time control switch is activated after initially activating control switch, timer relay will allow current flow to grid for 5 minutes. If ignition switch is turned off then back on, timer relay resets to 10 minute cycle. Any time control switch or ignition switch is turned off, current stops flowing to grid.
