Disabling SIR

1996 Chevrolet Corvette Base, 2D Coupe, 5.7 PSECTION Disabling SIR
  1. Position front wheels straight-ahead. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Remove AIR BAG fuse from instrument panel fuse block. Remove lower trim panel located below steering column.
  2. Disconnect Connector Position Assurance (CPA) clip and both Yellow 2-pin SIR connectors located at base of steering column. With SIR system disabled and ignition on, AIR BAG light will illuminate; this is normal and does not indicate an SIR malfunction.
