1996 Chevrolet Camaro RS, 2D Convertible, StandardSECTION Test No. 5, Seat Air Pump Operates, But Bladder(s)

Do Not Inflate

1) For lateral bladders, backprobe with a test light between ground and power seat switch connector terminal "A" (Purple wire) at inoperative seat. For lumbar bladder, backprobe with a test light between ground and power seat switch connector terminal "B" (Brown wire) at inoperative seat. Move power seat switch to inflate position. If test light glows when switch is operated, go to next step. If test light does not glow when switch is operated, check for poor connection at power seat switch. If connection is okay, replace power seat switch.

2) For lateral bladders, backprobe with a test light between ground and solenoid valve assembly connector terminals "H" (Purple wire) and "J" (Purple wire) at inoperative seat. For lumbar bladder, backprobe with a test light between ground and solenoid valve assembly connector terminal "K" (Brown wire) at inoperative seat. Move power seat switch to inflate position. If test light glows when switch is operated, go to next step. If test light does not glow when switch is operated, repair open in Purple or Brown wire between power seat switch and solenoid valve assembly.

3) Backprobe with a test light between ground and solenoid valve assembly connector terminal "F" (Black/White wire) at inoperative seat. Move power seat switch to inflate position. If test light glows when switch is operated, go to next step. If test light does not glow when switch is operated, check for poor connections at solenoid valve assembly. If connections are okay, replace solenoid valve assembly.

4) Disconnect power seat control module. Connect test light between power seat control module harness terminal "A" (Black/White wire) and ground. Move power seat switch to inflate position. If test light glows when switch is operated, go to step 6). If test light does not glow when switch is operated, go to next step.

5) If driver's seat is inoperative, repair open in Black/White wire between solenoid valve assembly and power seat control module. If passenger's seat is inoperative, check for open in Black/White wire between solenoid valve assembly and passenger seat assembly connector, Gray/Black wire between passenger seat assembly connector and driver seat assembly connector, or Black/White wire between driver seat assembly connector and power seat control module.

6) Reconnect power seat control module connector. Disconnect solenoid valve assembly connector at inoperative seat. Connect test light between solenoid valve assembly harness terminals "K" (Brown wire) and "F" (Black/White wire). Move power seat switch to inflate position for lumbar bladder. If test light glows when switch is operated, go to next step. If test light does not glow when switch is operated, check for poor connections at power seat control module. If connections are okay, replace power seat control module.

7) Check for poor connections at solenoid valve assembly. Check for pinched or punctured tubing within seat and in seat jumper harness. Check for punctured bladder. If connections, tubing and bladder are okay, replace defective solenoid valve assembly.
