Intermittent problem may be caused by poor connection, rubbed-through wire insulation or broken wire inside the insulation. Enhanced Diagnostic feature of Tech 1 can be used to check frequency of problem. If ABS warning light only comes on during moist conditions, thoroughly check wheel speed sensor circuits for signs of water intrusion.

If DTC is not current, clear DTCs. Spray suspect area with 5 percent salt water solution. Test drive vehicle over various road surfaces above 15 MPH for at least 30 seconds. If DTC returns, replace suspect harness.

Any circuit suspected of causing intermittent problem should be thoroughly checked for backed-out terminals, improper mating, broken connector locks, damaged terminals or poor terminal-to-wiring connections.

When replacing wheel speed sensor, inspect sensor terminals and harness connector. If corrosion or water intrusion exists, replace wheel speed sensor jumper harness.
