DTC 15 Enable Relay Contacts Shorted To Battery Or Always Closed: Notes
Ignition voltage is supplied through terminal A2 of ABS enable relay. EBCM energizes pull-in coil by completing ground circuit at pin No. 22 of EBCM. Magnetic field created will close enable relay contacts to supply battery voltage to Electro-Mechanical Brake (EMB) and EBCM, providing power to motors and solenoids.
DTC 15 can only set before EBCM commands enable relay on. This test determines if enable relay is energized when it should not be. This malfunction would not allow enable relay to remove power from ABS system. If second fault occurs that requires enable relay to be turned off, that malfunction cannot be removed if relay cannot be controlled. Malfunction must be present for 3 consecutive drive cycles before DTC will set. DTC will be stored but, ABS is not disabled.
- Determines if any other DTC is present.
- Determines if EBCM is capable of controlling enable relay as commanded.
- Checks for possible short to battery voltage in circuit No. 850 (Red/White wire).
- Determines if short to battery voltage is in circuit No. 850/1633 or enable relay.
- Checks for intermittent in wiring or connectors.
