Transaxle Case: Disassembly

- Remove bearing or bushings only if there is evidence of damage, or a mating part is being replaced. Remove snap ring and plug. Using Sliding Sleeve Bushing Remover/Installer (J-36034) and driver handle, remove plug, spring and sliding sleeve. See VIEW "A" in Figure .
- Remove detent lever. Using Shift Detent Lever Bushing Remover/Installer (J-36039) and driver handle, remove shift detent lever bushing. See VIEW "B" in Figure . Remove shift shaft seal. Using Shift Shaft Bearing Remover (J-36027), remove shaft bearing. See VIEW "A" in Figure .
- Remove axle seal. Using seal/race differential remover and slide hammer, remove differential carrier support outer bearing race. See VIEW "C" in Figure . Remove 3 plugs. Remove input shaft and output shaft support bearings.
- Using shift rail bushing remover/installer and driver handle, remove 3 shift rail bushings. See VIEW "B" in Figure . Using Reverse Shift Rail Bushing Remover (J-36032) and slide hammer, remove reverse shift rail bushing. See VIEW "C" in Figure . Remove stud.
