Hold-In Windings Test

1992 Chevrolet Cavalier VL, 4D Sedan, StandardSECTION Hold-In Windings Test

Connect an ammeter in series with 12-volt battery and terminal "S" on starter solenoid. See Figure. Connect a voltmeter between solenoid terminal "S" and ground. Connect a carbon pile rheostat across battery. Adjust voltage to 10 volts and check amperage reading. See HOLD-IN WINDINGS SPECIFICATIONSΒ  table.
